Shane Embry Pastor
Hello, I’m Pastor Shane….
I love sharing the story of how I came to be the pastor of Short Creek. In the Summer of 2012 I began “filling in” on a temporary basis. My wife, Cathy, and I joked our first Sunday at Short Creek that we felt bad for the person who was going to have to drive 22. Well, the more Sundays I spent with this congregation the more I began to love them. I knew this was the church where God wanted me to serve. I think you’ll have the same experience.
Not only did we fall in love with the church, but also with this beautiful countryside. Not to long after starting at the church, my family moved into the parsonage.
I became a Christian when I was about 9 years old. I would have never thought that one day God would call me to be a pastor (further evidence that God has a tremendous sense of humor). I was ordained into the ministry in July 2001, and began to “fill in” for churches. I have served as pastor or interim pastor in several local churches. I officially became pastor at Short Creek in November, 2012. I still can’t believe how blessed we are that God has let me be at this wonderful church.
My wife, Cathy, and I were married in September, 1989. We have one daughter, Emily, who is also a part of our church family.
I am bi-vocational, so during the day I work as a Driver Test Administrator with the Kentucky State Police, in Boone County.
We’re not a small church, we’re a Big Family
Our church was established in 1833 when six people took a giant step of faith and started the church. Here is a great summary of the history of our church.
